Krankheitsbedingt Veränderungen der Extrazellulärmatrix der Multiplen Sklerose im Mausmodell.

Investigation of the disease-related alteration of the extracellular matrix in a mouse model of multiple sclerosis using molecular and biophysical MRI

Project content

During brain development, but also in neuroinflammatory processes such as multiple sclerosis (MS), changes in the composition of the extracellular matrix (ECM) occur. In this project, the mechanisms of pathological and regenerative ECM changes in the brain will be investigated for ECM-specific molecular and biophysical imaging. Using an MS mouse model, the accumulation of magnetic nanoparticles in diseased tissue will be correlated with multiscale elastography parameters. In combination with experiments on cell cultures and tissue sections, in vivo imaging will provide information on which biochemical and biophysical tissue properties are suitable as biomarkers for ECM-targeted imaging in inflammatory diseases.
